Monoprint is a technique of chalcografic engraving with a 'fresh' pictorial effect. Trough a press, the monoprint is printed on paper. The result is a unique piece because the plate can be printed only once (as the name 'monoprint' suggests). This technique offers a wide range of effects and the possibility to mix it with other 'traditional' etching techniques (like for example the dry point) and, for this reason, the artist can reach a great expressive freedom, both in black and white or with colour.

Il Monoprint è una tecnica dell'incisione calcografica caratterizzata da un interessante effetto pittorico. Con l'ausilio di un torchio da stampa calcografica, si stampa su carta un esemplare che è unico (e per questo nel nome della tecnica c'è il prefisso 'mono'). La libertà della tecnica, l'ampia gamma di effetti che si possono ottenere e la possibilità di mischiare il monoprint con altre tecniche tradizionali dell'incisione (come ad esempio la punta secca) donano all'artista la possibilità di raggiungere una grande libertà espressiva, sia in bianco e nero che a colori.

Monoprint ist eine Technik der Radierung mit einem interessanten malerischen Effekt. Mit der Hilfe einer Radierungspresse, drückt man auf Papier ein Kunststück, das ein einzel Exemplar ist (deshalb heisst es ‘mono’). Die Freiheit der Technik, die Skala der Effekte und die Möglichkeit das Monoprint mit anderen Technicken (wie z.b. Kaltnadel) zu mischen, geben dem Künstler eine grosse Freiheit im Ausdruck, entweder in Schwarz/Weiss oder in Farbe.
